Hey guys my e430 had the bose system in it the original owner took it out and installed a amplifier by connecting rca wires directly from the back of the radio.B4 selling the car he took the amp out and I bought a jl audio six channel amp wich works ok but I am not able to adjust the bass , treble or anything on that system. Now my first thougt was to purchase an alpine cd changer to go with it and keep the mercedes head unit then I was thinking why bother with the changer instead I can replace the mercedes hu with an aftermarket hu that can play mp3's convert my regular cds into mp3s would be just like having a changer .But my dilemma is how can I find a nice unit that would match the dashboard.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and if you guys made similar upgrades let me know

thanks

You could leave the stock unit in place and put the new head unit below in the little storage compartment. Then all you have to do to hide the aftermarket one is close the compartment cover. Another member has done something like this and I plan to do this my self as soon as the new 2005 Alpine head units come out.
