Thanks for the help , not overly different to the 2jz we transplanted to my E36 bmw
Typically it's going to take a hoist and some spare hands to lift that head , kinda heavy
Regrettably the aftermarket manual is very light on real info
Tnx again

Thanks for the help , not overly different to the 2jz we transplanted to my E36 bmwI hope you know what you are doing, that is not an amatuer job and you can make costly mistakes. With that said I wish you good luck and here are some links for you to gain some insight on the procedure.
Make sure you buy a high quality gasket of the improved/upgraded design.

Thanks that's very helpful , considering the cars age I doubt many owners are willing to blow cash at the stealers when apart from the head configuration there is little different to most of the motors made in decades , if one can work on a jag or nissan twin cam the MB should hold no fear , worst case when assembling is find the degree wheel and dti for a definitive final cam adjustment , all this information has to be useful sometimeWell, looks like you have done a similar job before so you should be OK. And, yes, you are correct in saying that aftermarket manuals are not very detailed.
I will check tonight when I get home and see what I have, I may be able to get you some better instruction (used to have a S320 with the same engine).
Ok thanks , there are many similarities with other brands including the double vanos so all useful. Also, look in the W124 section, they have links in the stickies to the online FSM and it covers, of course, the legacy M104 engine. Should be everything you want to know.
