Hello,

I have an E240 with 2 smart keys. Both batteries have been replaced. Now I have to pop out the key to open the door.

Then the alarm goes off. I put the key in the ignition while the alarm is going off but the key still doesn’t seam to start the car.

I have also tried putting the key in with the alarm going of pressing the unlock button on the key but still no luck.

Am I doing something wrong or missing something. I would like to avoid going to MB if possible.

Kind Regards

The key batteries have nothing to do with STARTING the car, however they do impact the convience features of central locking, trunk release and anti theft SYSTEMS.

Help me, how do you lock and unlock the car?? Mecanically or electronically!!

Can you start the car??

I normally open the car with the key fob.

Since both keys have stopped working.

I am using the metal key that slides out of the key fob to unlock the driver’s door.

What does sound the alarm off

When I insert the key back into the key fob to attempt to start the engine (nothing happens the electronic steering lock stays engaged and it does not allow me to turn the key.

Thanks
