ive driven the e200 kompressor is the e230 similar in performance? are these cars reliable?
im tryin to decide between the e230 and bmw 523i?

Hi dsisco,

The E is a great car. I have never seen an E230 or E200 here in the USA. We have the E320 and E430. But I'm sure you will get a response to your Q: soon.
Good luck with your shopping!

the kompressor ll give you about 35 more horsepower, i would take that over a E230, and you should get better mpg, i am not crazy about bmw 523, my brother has a 525 and its nothing but trouble, he has it 6 month and spent like $5000 in repairs...ouch

hi dsisco, i;m assuming you aren;t in the states since both e230 and 523i are not available here. personally i would chose the e230 because it's more economical since it's a 4 cylinder, while the 523i is a 6. performance and reliability should be pretty similar assuming they are both taken care the same, and similar mileage. i remember the 528i has like 170hp, so the 523i either has the same or less, so not that much more powerful than the e230.

My experience with the E230 was not as impressive as the Kompressor. The latter won hands down. I was all geared to get an E230 till I drove it. Now it may very well have been this particular car and not the entire E230 series that lacked 'ooopmh'. I do not by any means wish to offend E230 drivers out there but I can only state my preference.

Cheers

yeah guys im from australia, what do u think 0-60 would be for the e230?, it does nt have to be the fastest of things just enough power to overtake.

I will say this much, you wont have any probs overtaking and darting off while doing hi speeds, that one thing I love about teh W210 (or what ever number you call it) is that even at speeds of 75mph + the car still has enough push to take you 5 car lanes in a less than a second.

avoid anything less than an E320 at all cost, you wont be able to get away with quick overtakings at all

BTW which part of Ozzie r u from m8?

The one I tried was a tad boring. Shop around and test drive. Why not even try an E240? Take your time - don't rush. What do you consider to be high K's?

Cheers

Guys, you can not compare MB E230 with BMW 523, because the 523 has a 6 cylinder 2.5L engine, and the E230 is a 4 cyl 2.3L engine, the comparison should be between E240 and 523 both have 6 cyl engines they are competitors for each other, I would go for E240 as an option.

What is ur budget?? below AUS$40k? I think E200K is a good choice.. you can add after market pully kit to increase the HP until 200hp.. you dont need the power to overtake car and the speed limit is 100km/hr since u r in vic or u either want to pay the fine ticket..
