I've just bought some new polished alloys and I'm thinking of keeping my old ones with tyres for winter use. I can get 205/60x15 Contentals for £55 each or 195/50x15VR Pirellis for £34. What I want to know is whether the 205s will be too wide for my 6.5 rims and what effect will 50 profiles do to my speedo and over all appearance (will they look too small for the wheel arches?). Which would be best suited for my 6.5 rims or should I just stick to 195/65x15s.

Admittedly the 195/50x15VR will be too small but what I really want to know is can I put 205/60s on a 6.1/2 inch rims with out any ill effects?
For some reason 195/65x15s in a good brand seem more expensive. For example 195/65x15VR Continental Ecos are £80 each were 205/60x15VR in the same Continental Ecos are £55 and some Uniroyals were only £45 each. I'll no doubt do some phoning around tomorrow for some 195/65s but I really want to go for Continentals or Michelins if I can get them at the right price soon.
