My interior courtesy lights work only randomly. At times they fail to come on at all -- both front and rear. Then, they revert to working for a few days for whatever reason before suddenly quitting again. Checked door switches, which all seem to be okay. Any thoughts?

Unless your MFD also indicates a door is open, then it's not a door switch. I had a similar gremlin right before my battery died. My symptom was that the surround lighting would go on and of after locking and unlocking, and I'd get some twinkling in the tail lights.
