We have a 1986 200E. Recently, the engine "dies" when the car makes a three quarter to complete turn. You can feel like the fuel is being cut off. The engine stalls. To prevent that from happening, we've had to turn real slow with the leg depressed on the accelerator. Does anyone know what could be the problem and how to fix it? The mechanic seems to think the carburetor is dead and wants to replace the whole thing. To that end, we've had trouble finding a carburetor for this year and model.

Any thoughts as to what's causing the engine stalling and where to get a carburetor will be much appreciated.
