My 400E is deathly quiet inside except for this squeak coming from the plastic trim piece on the right side around the seat belt buckle. Is this common and is the fix easy like tightening something down? Someone told me this was a common complaint when the cars were new but my friend's two W124s don't have this noise.

Has anybody here experienced this noise?

I searched but no references to seats found.

I have this noise, I grab the seatbelt across my chest to give it some slack and then the noise goes away until I let go of the seatbelt. I'd give anything for a fix.

rather than silicone, the coolest dry lube I've found for things that you don't want to put grease or oil on is Blaster brand "T.D.L." (The Dry Lube). its a teflon powder in a highly volatile carrier, spray it on, the carrier evaporates, and leaves the teflon powder behind.

As above and the little wire that comes from the seat belt latch, where it rubs against the plastic trim part. Also where the trim rubs against the leather in front of the seat belt latch and where it rubs against the console behind the seatbelt latch. You may need to remove the seat so you can remove the plastic part. Buy some Krytox and hit the whole part with that. The squeak will not return if do it properly with Krytox.

i was having this squeak on passenger seat and decided to break and remove the plastic piece for peace of mind and ears.
But then i moved plastic piece to the side away from seat belt assembly just a little and it stopped squeaking.
Try adjusting it before any other solution cause it's easy.

Or you can use the Mercedes version made for these problems

Special sliding compound, lubricating oil.

Part # 000 989 3660

The Cabrio guys love this stuff, gets rid of all the noise's from the
folding tops. Also good for any rubber seals and plastic.

krytox is essentially a perflourinated oil or grease. like liquid teflon. pure completely synthetic magic grease from the aerospace industry.

here's the manufacturers brochure.
http://www2.dupont.com/Lubricants/en_US/assets/downloads/Krytox_Overview_LowRes_H-58505-5.pdf

here's the car products (2nd page is the actual list)
http://www2.dupont.com/Lubricants/e...Krytox_Automotive_Product_Guide_K-17456-4.pdf

all those warnings about can't clean this stuff off, its like silicone only more so. it should be used very sparingly and just exactly where its needed, and it will do wonders.

the DuPont Krytox GPL 10x products are pure oils, GPL 104 is about 60 weight, 105 is 120 weight... the 20x products are pure greases. there's other numbers like 215 is a moly grease. I'd bet the GPL 104 is the right stuff for this application.

Yes, sorry I meant an MSDS for the MB bottle above.

Audi do a cracking little spray can which puts out a very fine mist of Krytox, bit like fly spray only much finer like a fog. Comes with a tube like a WD40 can. Part number G 052 172 A2

I think you'll find that's Krytox, can you find an MSDS for it by any chance.......
That's why I said MB "version".

Meaning MB's version of Krytox.;)

VW also has a part# with their name on it.
