The occasional ASR light and limp home mode seems to be getting worse now, did it 3 times in a row and had to take car home. When it does it the idle speed goes up to about 1200 or 1300 rpm.
I have read as much as I can find on it and hoped as a temporary measure that removing both ABS and ASR relays under the plastic cover would disable the system but no luck there.I also tried bridging pins 6 and 1 on the diagnostic socket which puts it into diagnostic mode but no luck there either.
The PO had had the ETA overhauled with a new pot. and wiring, I tried Carsoft 7.4 diagnostics and got 3 codes,14 ABS lateral acceleration sensor B24/2, 15 ABS control module (N30) and 10 return pressure pump motor(A7mi)or return /pressure pump relay.
The PO had solved an ASR issue before with a replacement secondhand pump behind the wing splash guard but I wondered if removing the relays wont disable it does it mean that the throttle body/ETA is a likely suspect? I will try and check the loom next for degradation I think.

The usual suspects are the ETA (does yours hum ,whistle with IGN on?)

I've got a similar problem, but now with a working ETA, SDS HHTWIN diagnosis is pointing to the Neutral ,Reverse lockout switch that I've just ordered.
I'm hoping that this will solve my ASR problem.

Yeah, when the ol A$$ Reamer rears it's ugly head, it's always a bitch. Since you have one of the magic years that have piss poor wiring, I'd sure check that over. If something is shorting out due to bad wiring, things will only get worse. Including blown modules. Mine was due to the bad Throttle Actuator wiring. :crying

Hi Redliner, yes it does make that noise, should there be no noise at all then? Thanks tdoriot, the ETA was overhauled as I say with a new pot. and you can see the newish outer sheath on the wiring.

There is a litany of things that seem to exacerbate the A$$ Reamer. Check the micro switch on the throttle pedal. Those can get sketchy. Front wheel speed sensor is another. Then of course faulty ASR module. I think it's just a poorly engineered system from the get go. :crying

If the ETA clutch is humming then it's OK, it's when it doesn't make that noise there is a problem.
Other items that trigger the ASR are the brake light switch and also the Neutral reverse lockout switch on the left side of the gearbox.

Did you get the Star system and diagnose your issues yet ? Be interesting to see if that diagnostic can root out some of these issues.
