If you want it really dry, you will need to pop the covers and use outside extractor.
Those tanks have 2 bottom pans and only returning fuel pumps it from passenger side to driver side where the main pickup pipe is.
Lot of trouble, while if that is just 3 liter of non ULSD diesel, I would just top it off and drive.

I added a gallon of diesel then extracted from fill port and repeated 1 time.
