So my window regulator broke (rear left) and after 7 months i have finally got my hands on a new one, a Dorman. and well here's the thing the dorman has 2 motor pins and the OE one had 7-9, not sure. So was wondering if anyone here could lend a hand on what to do? I already emailed rockauto about the fact that they are saying an item is plug and play when its not and i tried to see what all the pins do but, that revealed very little other then that 2 are always one and the rest do nothing with out power at the unit. Thanks for any light you can bring to the issue.

Some Dorman is great, others not so great. I recall waranteeing three Dorman coolant reservoirs for a Jeep before just giving the customer a refund and ordering an OEM.

They look the same to me . You can check the rear left Dorman and genuine in the attached..

Are you talking about regulator with motor ? If so it is a bit complicated. Probably you have the wrong year specified. The 1997 e320 has a motor with 2 pins and 1998+ has motor with electronics integrated and has 6 pins ,4 pins go to movement limiter electronics and 2 pins go the the motor. For 1997 and prior the limiter electronics and logic is handled by the CCM (Combination Control Module) under the hood.

If just the the regulator is bad, you could have ordered the regulator itself. The Dorman regulator with 2 pin motor is definitely the wrong one for your car. But the regulator part has the same number. So if the OE motor fits, replace the 1996 motor with the OE motor you have.
The price difference with or without the motor is about $7 which is amazing. The OE motor you have is around $170.

everything about the old one is broken, except the control board itself, cable snapped, motor burned some windings everything died.
I think unless rockauto wants to refund me I'll keep the reg installed and just run the control board to have so functionality, might get full after a proper window reset.
So if your idea is just to replace the motor part taken from the Dorman, and install in your own motor/control unit, you need to make sure that the motors are compatible electrically. How do you know the controller is good ? Maybe you can get a working controller/motor from a junkyard or ebay.
nonono my idea is the connect the controller and use it to operate the dorman. nothing will be taken apart on the dorman but its wires will connect to the old motor leads off the OE reg.
You should check that the motors are compatible, and the controller is in working order..
Check the diagram out for M69/3 which is the controller + motor integrated for the rear left. Check your other post regarding the BAS/ABS lights. There must be a good reason why the 30 amp fuse opened.

motors are not compatible and the controller has no way to plug in to the dorman. 30A fuse blew because well i had the dorman hooked in to the controller one of the leads i made burned and overloaded the system. again my plan is door connector<OE controller<OE controller motor leads<dorman main leads. like i said in the past it kinda works, window moves an 1" or 2 then stops. This is the plan if rockauto wont get back to me and send me a unit for my car.
