Does anyone know if there is a mercedes specific door trim/panel removal tool available? I've looked at harbor freight and theirs say GM or FORD, etc. I need to remove a rear door panel and want to be sure I have the correct tools. thanks

I just use plastic "wedges" I got from harbor freight. Your local hardware store will most likely have it. I'd recommend getting extra clips and a hot glue gun if you want to repair your panel when your in there.

The adhesive used by Mercedes to hold the panel and the part that holds the clip in place will eventually break down with all the pulling and may separate.

Theres talk about it in a video under the window regulator sticky. I've glued my rear door after repairing the regulator, what a difference.

Goodluck

ah...got those too. extremely handy. will definitely be using all of them as I'm
about to install a single DIN flip up DVD unit and rear camera.
Thanks, I'll get those. They look similar to what Harbor Freight offers. Luckily I have one where I live.

Thanks. Not to get off topic but what sort of problem was your window regulator giving you?

Rear door panel

Please see my older post - which I have attached here for removing the rear door panel is less than 20 minutes - I love the Harbor Freight Yellow set - there are 7 nylon "popper" nylon fasteners - I think my original description is right however if you cut a playing card in two (1/2) long way you can use that to slides down the sides/bottom of the door panel to locate the next "popper".

As good as you might be with age those nylon poppers get a tad brittle - it is to be expected to break one or two. They can also twist a bit, which allows them to come out from the door panel, but they can be put back in with the right alignment and a bit of contact cement will hold them in the right position.

MB 41-78 poppers are like $11 for 10 on the net - $1 ea autohausaz.com - and they are $2-$3 each at the dealer.

I bought the HF set years ago for $5. They usually have them on sale well under $10. They are the best money you'll spend on your interior, and your interior will thank you.

You'll also find them handy for any case where you'll want to scrap or pry and not scratch paint. I just used mine on a trunk gasket area, where the PO used RTV in vain to stop leaks.

Facom makes shop grade trim clip pliers - but I get best result regardless of tool if you know where the next clip is - so that's when I have time I use 1/2 of a playing card cut length wise to slide along the panel to accurately fidn each next clip..
