the little jammy that keeps the d/s front door from swinging open is, of course, broken. would i be crazy to think that piece is called the "door check" for about $20? it seems that whenever it broke, the door swung so far as to put a little dent in the fender as well.

jdc is correct, "door check" is also another name I heard used.

"Check strap" seems a little understated for that item. It is one well-designed piece of machinery. Compared to what other manufacturers use, it is one massive piece.
Does anyone understand why the strap itself is a two piece affir that is spot welded together, but each piece has an "S" shaped break in it. I would bet its safety related, but don't know.

Is this the part that you are talking about? I have purchased parts from them before with very good results.

Hope this helps.
