When I opened my door I noticed on the hinge pillar there is a switch for the dome light, and below it there's a cover for a possible switch (exact same size as the switch above).

If anybody's car here has those two switches installed, what's the lower switch for?

i have one - but is operating the footwell lights i installed...and maybe something else like the alarm...i cannt remember - not oem sorry, but i have one! ha!

Haha! I noticed on the passenger side there is one too! Hmm... possible illuminated door sils mod? []

Could be for alarm, yes. Any other suggestions?

I found a pic in my small collection but I still wonder what that second switch is for (OEM of course).

And also I remember going to the junkyard and seeing a 240D with a second switch. Hmmm...

I think it's for the buzzer with the door open when you have the key in the ignition.
