At some point I'm going to get new door pockets, but not this week.

In the mean time, my driver side door pocket was broken. The tab that held it in place behind the door handle was broken, so it flapped. For a long time I solved that by just taking the door pocket off and leaving it in the garage. Yesterday I decided to put it back on.

It involved a trip to the hobby shop for a piece of .032" aluminum sheet material. I cut a strip that was long enough to bend into an L shape and trimmed it to fit. Where the tab originally came up from the pocket there's a little compartment, and I shaped the aluminum to fit into that pocket. The bend came up to go behind the driver side door handle, and I drilled a hole in it so the screw for the door handle would pass through it. A few strips of trim adhesive tape (the foam kind) will hold the aluminum into the door pocket compartment. The whole repair took me just 15 minutes, from start to finish, and now you can't tell the door pocket was ever broken. Materials cost me $1.94.

If your door pocket is broken, I suggest visiting your local hobby shop.

It took Scott 15 minutes for the repair.

It would have taken him 1/2 hour to look for his camera before giving up and making a margarita.

Good fix, Scott.
BTW did you post this before somewhere?
I have a strong feeling of deja vu.

Nope, just did it this morning. Maybe someone else did it, too?

More truth that you might think in that.
