I am looking for a part for my '85 MB 300CDT. I have seriously tried everywhere (authohausaz, mercedesshop, socal mercedes, etc.). Mercedes no longer makes it, and because it is a 300CDT I cannot find a salvage yard with one. The part number is: 1237200096.

The part is for the inside of the door linkage. It looks like a little bow tie...well, the bow snapped; thus, my automatic doors no longer lock.

Any help would be greatly appreciated it.

sincerely,

Its avail at the dealer. I had to order one, I think I paid 9 bucks for it. Just a sec and I'll check the part #.

You have the incorrect part #. The correct part # is 123 800 04 80

Actually--and unfortunately--the part number is correct. I ordered part #123 800 04 80, but it is not the same thing. Close but not exactly. The part I needed was # 1237200096, which is no longer made.

For every other 300CDT model with the exception of the 1985 #1238000480 would work. The control is short and curved at the end. On the '85 300CDT, the control rod is long and completely straight.

I gave up looking for the part. What I did was remove the tiny, spring like mechanism with needle nose pliers and placed them on the existing control rod. EXTREMELY TEDIOUS WORK: nevertheless, it worked. I now once again have fully functional power locks.

It seems like that it is becoming increasingly difficult to find certain specialty parts for '85 300CDT. I also couldn't find a vacuum modulator that sits in the engine. I had to purchase it used from CA, which was still a pain in the arse to find.

Thanks everyone for all your help and support.

Sincerely,
