Hello everybody [1991 500SL w/83K miles]

The map flap on the driver side door broke, I replaced and it took forever to find and it cost a fortune, as expected. Well now the passanger side door also broke. I can replace the entire panel (used) for a lot less, the catch, the panels are from a 1997. Question is, can I swap out the redesigned panels given the relocation of the door locks etc. Any ideas you may have will be a big help.

Thanks

The centre console storage compartment and the door panel compartments on your 1991 model are lockable with the keyhole on the dashboard.
I don't think that the 1997 models had this lockable feature. The 1997 unit may fit but I don't think it will lock.

Thanks for your help RedLiner. Yes, you're right about the locking flap but what about the door lock location etc...
