How many cycles does your W123 have before your vacuum door locks run out of air? Lock/unlock is one cycle. Mine can do roughly 5, but at the 5th it's really sloooooow...

The manual said 5, but I never actually tried it.
On my manual it says you can lock/unlock it 10 times! [:0]

On a side note, what is the volume of the vacuum reservoir? Does anybody know?

Mine only does one, or if I wait too long after switching off the engine it doesn't lock at all[:(][V]. I know, I need to start looking for a leak somewhere.

I can hear a humming sound which I'm pretty sure is the leak somewhere close to the ignition key area. Are there any vacuum connections behind the dash that may be causing my leak?

BTW, it's a 1982 280E with manual A/C. So there should not be too much vacuum controlled automatic climate control stuff behind the dash??

What coupe has the 15 cycle limit, the black or green/blue?
The New Blue, the Black is good for about 3. [8D]

I used to get 10 or so but the vacuum’s bad and it will only lock once right after the engine’s off. Since the engine shuts off right away, the transmission shifts smoothly, and the locks work with the engine on I’m assuming he egg crate is bad. [:(]

I said 1, but really you need a zero option :)

My tailgate never locks, and the others only go if you lock it right after you shut off the motor, just like Henk's.

Sorry, I forgot! [)]

JDC, how can the egg crate go bad? Isn't that just made of plastic?

Here's an idea, is it possible to install larger vacuum containers to provide a larger reservoir (and more lock cycles)??

I replace the egg crate a year ago, and since then I can score 10 on all doors, fuel plate and trunk.[^]

it went 6 locks, but then wouldnt complete the unlock that time. or vise-versa. not sure how to count them[:)]

i thought the car was kind of shabby by comparison. yours all look so shiny and all, but i guess its about on-par, eh? do we(the majority of those polled) all have wonderful cars? or do we all have mediocrity?

no offenses meant, just curious, really. how many of youall have replaced/rebuilt the vacuum systems?

this has me wondering about if i chased down all the leaks! i might not need a vacuum system rebuild afterall(but prolly do anyway, im terribly unlucky)
