My driver door makes a scraping sound in the last few inches before it closes. There is also a pop-bang sound to get past the inner rest position. I have applied white lithium grease to the hinges and strap that slides inside the door. I even shot graphite into a hole where the strap slides in.

But I don't think I'm making a difference. I've scanned a lot of discussions threads on doors, locks, and hinges, but do not see the same issue.

Any ideas?

Thanks, db

Hi Joshua,

Probably so, but I just can't visualize which interior fastener fails. The steel strap itself seems so functional.

Actually -- it probably bears stating that where the strap fastens to the car body has some looseness to it unlike the passenger side. But the scrape and bump seems to come from inside the door panel.

I'm allergic to taking off the door panel, which I guess is the operation that awaits me. The raspy sounds sure are a bummer!
