Do you have the little flat emergency key (plastic, not metal)? If so you can use that for the time being and then buy a used key from ebay and transfer you internals to the "new" shell.

If not you are stuck going to the dealer for a new key.

well i am not even sure how to transfer the internal since it looks as it is sealed off.
Also the IR led looks abit f*cked as well..

Damage to the shell is completely immaterial.

Do us all a favor and post a few pics of it. I'll bet you can replace the shell, but once you post pics I may be able to tell you how you can open it up and inspect the board to see if it's okay. If it is you can buy a shell on ebay and you're golden.

Check with your homeowner's insurance as well to see if you're covered for this.

well.. I have taken to the Merc dealer in HK and they said the electronic inside is a bit f*cked and a replacement may be necessary..
Is there anyway to reprogram a new key to the Merc by any chances?
Shoot the dog is a good idea as well.. may be the oven will work as well?

A new key is the only thing that can be programmed to the car. Used keys are good for non-electric parts only, once programmed they belong to the car.

(Oven? I thought you were in HK, do they regularly eat dogs there, too?)

So how does it worked? where can i get a new key from and how can i get it programmed to the car.
Yes I am in Hong Kong.
And no we do not eat dog in HK and it is illegal too..

Although there are lot of places in China that has dog, cat, snack, all sort of animals...

Hi, Sam.

The only place to get a new replacement/additional key is from the dealer and they will verify your identity and ownership and order it, they receive it programmed. Call a couple of them if you have that option, prices can vary quite a bit.

Do you have a second key now? If not buy your new one and then mail me your old one (take out the batteries first). If I can fix it with an old shell I will, if I can't I'll break the circuit board so it can't ever be used even to unlock the car.
