Hi
so ive been trying to figure out why my car wont start:(
i was looking at my fuse cover and it says Automatic Solenoid fuse 1....is this true? the automatic cars have a fuse for the starter? what is this? the problem is my car wont start..when i put it in on postion i hear the fuel pump buzzing, and when i go to start the car..i can hear the starter moving but not engaging and turning the car over...any help?

the dude i got the car from had wrapped a few ceramic fuses in tin foil..in particular one piece of foil had that burnt look to it...any idea why my car wont start?

Before you start drinking any Rum or Grey Goose, I would first replace all of those foil covered fuses.

In my 25 years of owning MB's every time the engine wouldn't turn over it was due to a bad battery. They just go out without warning. My indy friend insists on replacing them every 4 years.

The only time is wasn't a battery was on the 190 2 years ago. It turned out to be a defective starter. Replaced it with a rebuilt Bosch and no problems since.

No hard feelings buddy... but get a Ford Escort :p (just kidding) as you need to work out many things on your benz
I'm sorry that you couldn't resolve the starter issue though it took two threads up to now

As always, I would highly recommend downloading the W201 manual from the FAQ section of this forum..it will teach alot and your are always welcome to ask overhere but you need to do your homework too

theres a single pin connector with a purple wire on it that goes from the ign switch to the soloniod, chaec to see if the wire is connected adn not corroded and broken. its near the top of the firewall behind the brake booster.
