Changing the fog lamps I found this.
What is that?
And why it is around?

I believe that is the temperature sending unit for the air temp reading on the dash.

I suspect that it the outside air temperature sensor that reports the air temperature to your dash. The owners manual says it is located in the front bumper. It looks a lot like the temp sensor for my swimming pool equipment. Just an educated guess though.

I see.. is that the place it has to have?
Is that possible that goes around like that or it does have a specific holding place?

It's near the fog lamps correct? What side was it on? My car is at the dealers so I can't go look for it. Maybe someone else can see where theirs is mounted. I would think that it would have a hole or spot to clip into since if it is touching the plastic it would not really give you an accurate air temp.

Yeah, that's the temperature sensor. In my 98 230K, it was placed in the slit where you have the 1 meter wide piece of plastic inside (Which can be removed).

It should attach to a fastener that also holds that 1 meter wide plastic bit in place.

Thank You.
Would you mind to illustrate with some pic where it is this part since I didn't understand where is this 1mt wide plastic?
Thank You.
If you need some pic to show me where is it just let me know I'll post the pic you need in case you do not have anymore the SLK[:)]

There should be a clip with a semi-circular hole in it ...

to the left side on the lower grill. the probe fits into that clip, it just snaps in place. You should be able to see the clip if you get on the ground in front of the car. If the clip is not there, maybe it was broken off. If that's the case, you'll need a new clip.
