You can only access it from behind...

Note that the bulbs are not standard light bulbs, and pretty much only available in amber.

It's a misprint in even the '03 brochures. All of the C-classes have incandescent signal mirror bulbs, not LEDs as stated in the brochures. Retrofitting is probably possible with some work, however, a load equaliser will have to be wired in to prevent a malfunction warning in the driver information system display.
