Hi,

I have a damaged rear differential on my MB190E 2,0 1990. Does anyone know if a rear differential casing from serie 124 or 123 fits on a 201? The rear axle ratio is 3.46. I was planning to just exchange the middle part of the rear axle.
The reason I am asking is that I have been offered to buy a rear axle at a good price but it is from a W123 or a W124.

W123 differential will NOT fit a W201. Not sure on W124, others will chime in on that.

Get the correct one for your car intead. You will get axle at a good price but you'll have to pay more for modification.

Thank you for that information. It means I can rule the W123 alternative out.
Well, I guess it would be best to get a differential from a W201 in order to get things to work without problems.
But what about the W124? Several of the engine alternatives are the same between the W201 and W124.
Could it also be that the rear differential are interchangeable with the W201's?

The engines are similar with the W124 but the drivetrain (remember, the chassis is bigger on the W124) is not.

Well, then it will have to be a second hand unit from another W201.

Thank's for the rapid answer! It sure is a wealth of information you get access to in this forum :)
