How are chrome rims on a silver car tacky?

It depends on who you are trying to impress. If you want to impress the wire rims, dubs, hydrolics and bling crowd, then you will do that.

But you will not impress the classy, performance oriented, stylish, subtle crowd.

And don't say you're not trying to impress anybody. Then you would be driving a Honda Civic if that were the case.

It's like mixing plaid with paisley, or stripes with polka dots.

As chrome is basically a different kind of light silver, there's not enough contrast, however the two aren't similar enough to look good together (like silver wheels on a silver car, or a different monochrome shade like black, gunmetal, etc) Chrome rims are more suited to darker colors or in some cases, white.

I guess if all you want is to have big shiny wheels, then you can put them on any color. Taste and style are after all, matters of opinion.

Agree 100% with Keaton. Learned the hard way myself and it cost me about 2K.

Fellows, Fellows now hold one bit. First, i think brook is right, but i it's a matter of choice.
1. chrome rims look nice on any color of ride weather it may be light in color or dark.
2. only f'n europeans put blk, silver rims on there rides, now that is ugly.
3. everyone has there right to do what "They" choose to buy, it's a free world.
4. chrome rims (if it's the right kind) but who's to say what taste a person likes or dislikes!!!!
5. brook's ride was nice from the giddidy-up, and since you change rims, it still looks dam good!!!
So in short it's about what a person likes, and how deep he/or she can dig in there pockets. No disrespect to no one, but remember it's a benz baby!!!

Mattr2 , I like rims, big, chrome or alloy. But I can't see those looking too nice on your ride. It's too much. They take your cabriolet somewhere it shouldn't go, in my opinion. I would suggest a simpler but classic design.

They look like motionless spinners.

If you like CLKs with spinners then they're perfect for you. In the end it's all about what you like best, but since you asked , I gave my opinion.

It's get's no hotter than a drop top 208. Here is my favorite CLK drop top. It has faddish/ flavor of the month rims but I still LOVE it.

Brook.....if I were to get those wheels, I saw that they will mount and balance the tires for free. Do I need to do anything else other than just put them on?
