here goes one more. My 1991 with 107000 miles, A.K.A. "money pit". Since I got it last May, I have spent about a total of $6900 on it (including $5000 purchase price). Hope it will last at least to 150,000 mile.

Never, but you'd need to spend a little more to upgrade your light to Euro and clear corners...etc.[:D]

BTW, very nice color and nice car.

Thanks dtkw. Spent way more than I like to on it already, especially "Euro and clear corners...etc" adds nothing to how it drives.

Beautiful car!!

The Euro headlights will make it MUCH easier to drive at night. The US headlights, to put it nicely, suck. Get the Euro headlights, put in 80/100w bulbs and four new white fuses in the headlight circuit, then enjoy the night driving.

With US headlights, I was overdriving them at 70 mph on a back country road. The Euro's have so much more light out there that they've raised the speed capability so that 70 is now easily done, and I haven't the nerve to (or radar detector) to see where I start overdriving the headlights again. Plus they look better.

Lower the nose 1.25" and put in the Euro headlights. I added 8x16" 8-hole MB rims with 225/50/16 front and 245/45/16 backs, and semi-metallic brake pads on the front. Done (for now).

NewMBie, I’ve seen your car before – it was great looking then as it is now; no, I never get tired of looking. [:)]

You can't equate the associated expense of a diesel to a gasser. Also, your car is painted the dreaded can't sell it blue, and the wheels are less than appealing.

One smart ass post for another sounds good.

Guess I deserved it but you'll have to try a little harder.

Ah, the good ol’ days, I remember them well…

You do have the best looking 85 300 SD, it’s true now as it was almost a year ago:

I would never say it is the nicest. There are others here with pretty sweet rides. It has some flaws.

Hey Janos, how do you think I could get that 60K in the bank with my low income? Counting pennies.

I can't begin to keep track of what I have in MB's..[:p]

Never thought there was much point to keep track of what I invest...as long as the bills are paid etc all is well!

IMHO, I would go Euro lights w/ the euro corners..but that's just me..!

Snibble is correct.

Diamond Blue Metallic (paint code 355)
I almost had a 1985 300D in that color, someone snatched it up before I could get my hands on it. That's one of my favorite MB factory colors on the 123, 124 and 126, it's very conservative and fits them very well.
