Recently I had an opportunity to open up my ’07 S600 on a long, flat private road and was relatively pleased with the overall performance until the 600 bogged down at exactly 130 mph. Does anyone know if the 2007 S600’s have speed governors? If so, is this because of the speed rating of the “R” rated tire?

Thanks in advance for any input.

i would assume yes, that it's electronically governed, but that can be removed/changed. For some of the newer AMG models, Mercedes offers an expensive package to remove the electronic limiter from the factory.

As noted from the factory, speed-limited to 130mph

It's the tires.

Plenty of tuners available to de-limit to at least 188mph

I sent my ECU and TCU (engine and transmission modules) off to Renntech and had my horsepower increased and torque increased, as well as raised the high speed limit to 189 mph. I hooked it all back up today (only takes about 20 minutes). Mine is a 2007 S600 and the horsepower is now at around 620 and the torque is at 740 ft/lbs. This car is frightening it is so powerful. I highly recommend Renntech. It only took 3 days total of down time to get it done by using UPS. If you would like to do this mod, contact me and I can help guide anyone through the steps or give suggestions.
