Anyone else besides me have this issue?

The black rubber strip that runs along the bottom of my outer windshield is cracking and falling apart. It looks really nasty. Have any of you ever replaced or needed to replace this rubber strip?

I saw a used E320 on a dealer's lot with that problem. You're right, it looks like Hell, and I wish you luck getting that remedied. It made me want to treat my own rubber right away!

I did replaced mine it has small cracks on edge of the rubber.

Its' all one piece, & don't worry it's easy to install & cheap . Here are the part numbers:

210.831.0958 - $20.00
210.831.1058 - $20.00

Joe, if that is only 1 piece, why the 2 part numbers?
What I meant is the plastic & the rubber are one piece (not seperated) .

2 part numbers beacuse you need left & right side.

Sorry for the confusion I should have explained better (that's why I quoted him on my first reply)

Whew, I just installed the new pieces. Not as easy as I anticipated because I couldn't get the screw hole to line up. After playing around with it, I finally got it to fit.

Practically all older model of E320, perhaps, upto 2002 will have same problem. I had mine replaced also. E350 is tatally different from E320.

I'll try to post pics this weekend.

Just to clarify, most of you would be able to do this with no issues at all. I'm just such a non-DIY guy. I make the easiest things seem so difficult. What should've taken 5-10 minutes to do took me 30-45 minutes. It's always this way for me...

Windshield Trim Question

I would like to replace the plastic rubbery trim pieces which are located in the lower portion of the windshield under the wiper. It's the transition piece where the hood starts. Mine is rather sun damaged and starting to crack at the edges. A proper name for this and a parts store online would be much appreciated.

I have seen a used Benz on a lot that was doing the same thing, and it looks really nasty. Try: Mercedes Benz Parts, Mercedes Parts, Accessories and describe it just like you just did here. If they don't have it, call them and ask for Ron (mention Benzworld). He should know where you can get that. Good Luck!

Don't feel bad practically 100% of our year cars will have same problem. Lucky that it is easy to replace and not that expensive. I had mine replaced also.
