Am having an issue with my 2004 CL55 AMG Distronic shutting down intermittently. The message is: Distronic External Malfunction - re-initiate.
Have had the codes read and only that message shows up. There is no pattern that i can figure out to predict when it will malfunction.
Does anyone have any idea where to start looking?

Also, i keep reading about "Sticky's" and don't have a clue where to find them or how to look up if there is information on the site about this issue.

The "sticky's" are the threads that appear at the top of the forum and are "fixed" or "pinned," meaning they stay at the top. The rest of the threads go in date order, newest to oldest based on the last post in the thread.

The search feature is located upper right side of the forum, plus there's also a Google search feature that goes forum wide.

I searched for "distronic" and only found one thread, and the problem there required module replacement. Those buggers are expensive unless you go searching through eBay and other avenues:

Did you ever solve this issue? My 2004 CL500 is having the same problem.
