Hi Guys,

Does anyone have either a link or instructions on the procedure for replacing the following:
- distributor cap
- rotor arm
- HT leads
- spark plus

for a 200/230 engine? (4 cyl)

I am doing this job tomorrow and any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Riccardo

The distributer cap has screws that hold it in. Undo the screws around the circumference and pull it up. Take the new distributer and swap the wires exactly as you see it. Pull the rotor which you should see under the distributer. It just pops off. Replace it, its fool proof so you can't get it wrong. Then put the new distributer with the wires back on. Easy as pie.

The spark plugs, do them one at a time so you don't mess up the wires. If you can get a spark plug wire puller it would help a lot. The Benz wires can easily be damaged if you don't get a good grip. Make sure you have some di electric tune up grease to put on the tip of the new spark plug before reconnecting the leads.

Guys, thanks for your answers.

I did the job on Sat morning and it wasn't difficult at all. The only issue is that I broke the plastic thing which keeps the HT leads tidy over the engine (pulled too hard on it and it snapped very easily).

Car is running better now and started first time. Will wait to pass a final judgement untill next weekend (I only see/drive the car at weekends as its at a friend's house) as it will have been standing for a week unused.
