Found these between the car body and washer fluid reservoir disconnected. When I connected them a gawd awful screening started. Stopped when I disconnected them. Any ideas what angry gremlin they started up?

Smog pump doesn’t have an electronic connector I don’t believe, it is simply belt driven, no clutch.

my guess is pump for windshield washer squirter

Take a look down low on the right hand side of the engine. See if there is something that looks like this attached picture. You might notice the similarity of the plug in the attached picture as compared to your picture

Connector looks right. I going to chase it down. Thanks.

so later smog pumps do have a clutch? I thought they ran all the time ? The one on my 76 450sl had no clutch, I removed it and threw it in the trash. No regrets…

Some have a clutch. I cant be sure that this is the issue from one picture of one connector.
