OK, I'm offering it up for sale. The One-Off, ICONIC, "DINO HUNTER" camper/utility bed.

Very High Quality construction- Built by SPECIALITY VEHICLES & EQUIPMENT,
( a division of Q.D.I., Mesa, Arizona ). All welded steel with high quality
hardware and ROM roll-up doors.

3 roll-up doors (rear is electric), jib-arm and electric winch to load/unload
spare tire. Spare tire hides in compartment at forward end of the BOX. Ladder, lifting eyes. This is set up to bolt onto a 7' X 8' perimeter frame.
Recommended for the true SBU : U1750, U2150, U2450 etc.

Built like a Tank, a U-BOAT, a locomotive....STEEL

The dimensions :

8' Long
7' Wide
Approx 6' Tall.

This thing is rumored to have cost $40K, but I don't really know. I wouldn't doubt it. I'm offering it at $10K, but will entertain offers. Cheaper than a Lance for the Domestic Dually, about 1/2 the price of a FOUR WHEEL POP-UP camper, and it won't fall apart.Make it yours- no one else will ever have one like it - guaranteed !

Some Photos.

Hi John--what are you going to use instead of the DINO BOX on your DOKA if you sell it?
Cheers,

I'm currently pondering just that question- it may be a hybrid ; Aluminum
service boxes, sorta like now, and then build a composite panel slide-up, sorta like this fellow did on his tricky Toyota...planning and measuring.Pull the
spare out of its cozy little hiding place and put it out in the cold like almost every other Camper, and so on...I had a plan to modify the Box, but I think I may just have to start from scratch to get something that works better for me...

ALSO- If you are seeking the UNIMOG with the stainless Downpipe- you are
seeking Mark Mitchell...

[Moderator note- since the cruiser box attracted so much attention... made a new thread for it.

That's a slick little setup there. FWIW the dino hunter is a pretty functional layout, could be improved upon of course but the box is too overbuilt to be rebuilt. If that makes any sense.

I have to disagree a bit, having owned it for a while and having spent a lot of time looking at it and some time camping with it : It IS over-built, but it can be modified to mitigate some of the quirks.
I have just decided to build on the lessons learned. There are features on this box that are very nice, and I'll include some of them in the next one.

Was the Dino Hunter lifted? Or is that the stock "lift" of the larger series truck? It sure does have a lot of space between the tires and fenders. I really like the stance of that truck.

Sorry to be so OT,

Really looks like it has to be lifted in the suspension. Maybe the spring buckets and panhard links are lowered on the frame. The cab just doesn't look like its lifted any significant amount. Looking at my truck without the engine, it about 1" or so higher. Its certainly a better look anyway..
