I just noticed that the interior rear view mirror's dimming function is not working on my 1997 W140. What could be the issue ? Everything works otherwise.

Could be a problem in the circuitry.
You can take it down by pulling hard straight down.
Then pop the rear cover. It is clipped into the front frame.
Circuitry is inside. Clean it up with electric cleaner and try.
If you need pics of it apart. Can post.

Has anybody else had this problem ? Any suggestions what else to look for, before deciding to replace the mirror, which is not cheap.
