Hi,

My wife was a little worried about the size of the W164 in relation to the garage at our other home in Italy - and this led me to compare the dimensions of the two vehicles.

My W163 is from late 2000 and still has the "elephant ear" mirrors. The W164 will actually fit through a 6 cm/2 inch narrower passage than the W163, both with the mirrors deployed.

OTOH, the W164 is a good deal wider than the W163 with the mirrors folded - which might cause some unintended bodywork modifications over here where some streets are REALLY narrow.

Cheers,
Birger

PS: I take the plunge now and order mine without having seen it [:)][:)][:)]

Birger, The W164 is rather modestly-sized for a US vehicle! Unfortunately, living large is the fashion here. Of course, I am not deploring decent size garages that are more the norm here.
