14MM Allen wrench. Do yourself a favor and go get a 1/2" drive socket with the 14MM hex head inserted. Actually, if your going to do your own work, just buy an entire set. Make sure you break the top (fill) plug, before you take out the bottom (drain) plug.

Also, you can get a fairly cheap hand pump that has a cap that screws onto the standard gear oil container; sure makes it easier to fill. Good luck.

I want to change the oil in my 1982 300D. What size hex wrench do I need to remove the drain and fill plugs.

Thanks,
Willie
Even better invest in the Hazet drain wrench. The ergonomics of this wrench are nothing short of spectacular.

Also, and this is very, very important:

ALWAYS REMOVE THE FILLER PLUG FIRST!

Why? Because if you remove the drain plug first, drain the oil, then discover you can't remove the filler plug you can't put oil in the differential.

And to remove the filler plug, be prepared to need penetrant, heat, a breaker bar, and a 5lb sledge to pound on the breaker bar (the last two seemed to be the ticket for me)......Oh, and then a replacement plug.
