(W211 folks may be able to shed better light on this.)

So, W211 Toliman wheels came in two basic sizes:

1. 7Jx16 ET33.
2. 7.5Jx16 ET42.

Now, here's the thing: each of those two wheels came in two part numbers:

1. 7Jx16 ET33: either A211 401 11 02 or A211 401 42 02 (possibly earlier vs. later??)

2. 7.5Jx16 ET42: either A211 401 12 02 or A211 401 43 02 (same as above??)

I'm running a set of ET42 Tolimans of the (older??) 1202 variety on my W124, and I just got a fifth one from the junkyard to use as a spare, and this one is of the 4302 variety. Visually, I couldn't identify any technical or aesthetic differences between the two. So, what could be different between two seemingly identical versions of the same wheel?

Okay, Eureka! It's the color/finish. According to Alloy Wheels Direct:

- A 211 401 11 02/B66471050 (7Jx16 ET33) and A 211 401 12 02/B66471051 (7.5Jx16 ET42): Sterling Silver.

- A 211 401 41 02/B66474227 (7Jx16 ET33) and A 211 401 43 02/B66474228 (7.5Jx16 ET42): Titanium Silver.

I checked most W211 models in the EPC; the seven-hole "Toliman" design is #10 (the first one) in the wheel schematic for the entire W211 line. None of the model/chassis pages says "replaced by." The pages of a few chassis models list all four versions; others list only the narrower or wider version; yet others list both widths in the same color... etc.

So basically, the wheels are technically identical, and refurbishing/refinishing any of the wheels in a different color/shade/finish renders those two digits in the part number irrelevant. I'm cool with that!
