The choice between MB and BMW is personal taste but the advantage of the C240, at least for now is that it's the current body style whereas the Bimmer is last year's style. As for a 2002 C230 vs a 2002 C240, the C230 was a coupe only that year so it depends if you want a four door or a two door. In 2003 they came out with a four door C230. In comparison for a 2003, the C230 is considerably faster 0-60. Once at freeway speeds they are pretty similar. The C240 has wood trim and 16" wheels, the C230 has metal trim and 17" wheels but you can replace trim and wheels. Other than that, for 2003 they were very similar. For 2004.5 and newer, the C230 is much diffent in that it it's lowered by 1", has much nicer wheels, has blue tinted windows, nicer steering wheel, chrome exhaust tip and nicer bumper covers. As an aside, the C240 came in a station wagon and 4-matic (AWD) models where the C230 didn't.

Good luck in your quest......

thanks for answering well first off, is im lookin for a sporty luxury car, im bout to turn 17 and this will be my first car and i dont think i need a fast car and doesnt sound like much difference. and i havnet looked at the 02 c230 coupe yet and i dont think i could get it cause insurance is a a killer with coupes. Also i cant afford anything anywher enear 2005. im in a under 15k range and the 240 is 12900 while the beamer is 11200 but i heard beamers break down alot or somethin, i kinda like the look of bmws and angel eyes but very fond of mercedes and no one at my school has a merc they all drive beamers [:p] . Speed would be nice but it aint my number 1 reason for a car right now, i just need a nice car to drive me and friends around and hang out while also lookin so clean [8D]

I was wondering if the internal parts for the c240 2003 were the same as the c230 2004 because im fixing a c230 sedan amg and I finally found a car to strip the parts from but its a c240

There were 2 C230's in the W203 series. C230K with a 4banger SC engine. A 2.5 V6 C230. The C240 I had for many years was very reliable. Never left me on the side of the road. Overall the C240 engine and transmission are very tride and true. I would go with the C240 as it has the N/A engine and no Supercharger to worry about. Inside from 2001-2004 are all the same except for the hatchback models. Sedans are all the same. 2005-2007 are facelifted and more modern and parts are not all the same when it comes to electronics.

Since both the MY2003 C240 and MY2005 C230 are both "pre-facelift" cars, the interior parts will fit, but may not be the same in terms of fiinish. For example, the C230 was a "sport" model where the C240 was a "luxury" models. The C230 may have metal trim (it was optional) where the C240 has wood only.
