any of you out there have any feedback on doing a diesel purge? i am contemplating purchasing the stuff from diesel giant and trying it. i would really like to hear from some of you that have done it and tell me what your results were and did it make a noticable difference in your idle, sound, performance, etc. would like to know in detail what your engine was doing before that made you do it, and did the purge change anything.

I did mine becuase the car was new to me. I purchased the purge from NAPA. It was a bit of a struggle but if they type in "lm2005", it will come up in the computer. I paid less than $20 for 2 cans and a few feet of fuel hose.

The purge was simple enough and did not really do much. I think my engine was already clean. I wanted to try it before messing with the ALDA which really made a huge difference. :)

I can now take off from the line at less than full throttle.

The purge is easy and pretty cheap if you think your engine is dirty.

i didn't notice a difference either, and as atgep, I do this as a routine just after purchase.

Yes

Yes it is, I just googled it. I also did a purge on my 1987 300TD right after I got it and I did not notice any significant changes. However, it was taken care of by previous owners...I have heard nothing but great things about it restoring power and engine smoothness to neglected engines. Go for it, it is inexpensive insurance.

I noticed a difference although it wasn't significant because PO kept the car maintained. However, I will do diesel purge twice a year to offset the bad diesel that I put in my car sometime due to circumstances.

The only drawback to diesel purging is, you can't SMOKE anyone :D when they are driving too close to the bumper.

I didn't notice a difference, but I just tried something new. I needed to do an oil change, I went to wal mart to get a oil catch pan and some more oil. Seen this new stuff called diesel clean on the shelf, figure heck i'll give it a try, what can it hurt, dumped the bottle in the tank after the oil change. Noticed a great difference in speed and smoke. Can't tell you if it was the oil change or the diesel clean but last oil change I used diesel purge and noticed nothing. To really clean the engine add some bio diesel to the mix.

DG is like PT Barnum said. There's a sucker born every minute. :D Their prices are a joke. I got two cans of it from a local auto parts. It made no difference at all.

Well the Diesel Purge did make an improvement on my recently purchased '83 300D which only has 160,000 miles! The previous owner put a [email protected] single tank WVO system on the car last year and it really had a lot of [email protected] in the injectors. It smoothed out the idle, but now the injectors are nailing because of cleaning out some of the old WVO! I have ordered 5 rebuilt injectors and will do another purge before I install them to get any other stuff out. If your engine is clean and didn't have any WVO in it you probably don't need it, but if you can get two cans for under 20 bucks at NAPA go for t!

No, it really didn't get much better; I think my engine was already clean. Unfortunately I was suckered into paying DieselGiant's price before looking elsewhere...

According to a member on another forum it's a "waste of money"; which I beg to differ at that point because it cleaned out the engine when I first bought the car. So, I use it anyways, AND I get it for free from my buddy's, shop since he has a container of it. I grab a bottle or two of it.

Just out of curiosity why does DG feel he has to rip off the general public? Isnt he smart enough to figure out that we are aware he isnt the only supply source out there?

well before i said too much i wanted to see if you all agreed about DGiant. i live close to his shop. i emailed him asking if i could simply drive my car down to have him simpy listen/look at the engine and see if he thought a rack bolt would help my shaking etc.
he responded back that he didnt work on others vehilces anymore and that he didnt have time to do it. huh??? i thought, you dont have 2 minutes to watch my engine idle and tell me whether or not i need a rack bolt??? so i responded back and RE-stated that i simply wanted him to observe the engine and i wanted to purchase whatever he thougth i needed. NO response. then once i actually compared his pricing to others, i fiqured he must be on something or whatever and i would get with my buds on benzworld and we would fiqure it out. his website seems contrary to his response. his website states all over it that he is just a phone call away to help. yeah, right.

I did the diesel purge on my '82 with 65k miles on it - the original owner never left Houston with it, and it probably hadn't been driven over 50 mph in fifteen years.

I bought two cans of Seafoam, then did the diesel purge process as described online. When I was finished, I ran/burn a whole can of Seafoam through the system. Yes, it made a significant difference - it was sluggish when I bought it, now it's downright peppy. You won't know what it'll do for your car until you do the process.

Did you just pour it in the tank, or did you introduce it directly, like the purge? I have a stockpile of Seafoam, as I put a capful into my scooter tanks at fill-up, so I may try this.

I use Lubro Moly's diesel purge whenever one of the cars starts smoking. I always do the direct feed rather than diluting it in the tank.

It's easy to do and it usually clears up the problem.
I can usually tell when it needs a purge.

Those little subtle signs, like people turning around at stop lights to see where the fire is...

I like Seafoam and use it in my BMW motorcycle. I feel that it makes a difference.
