I went to visit my farm today to talk to the guy running cows on it about work to do on the pond and we decided to take his Deutz tractor as the chosen vehicle to get us around.

It's a great old tractor with a 3 cylinder air cooled diesel engine. Ran like a top. It has a big leaf spring that the front axle is suspended on and that makes for a pretty smooth ride. I'll never understand why American tractors preferred a rigid front end.

I think the spring would be less desirable if that tractor had front implements, and that's where a solid pivoting axle would shine.

Looks pretty similar to the old Porsche tractors. Wonder if there's any crossover engineering.
