Ifound out today the SLK280 I ordered will be manufactured in the third week of May. Now I'm trying to gauge when my car will arrive at the dealer - I live in DC.

How much time typically elapses between manufacturing and the car arriving at the dealer in the US?

I'm going to the beach for a week in early July and would love to drive the car there.

I ordered mine January 3, 2006 and it was built the 2nd 10 days in February and reached the Los Angeles/Long Beach port area on March 25th.

My guess is that your order might come in sooner as you are on the East coast. The dealer/salesman can track the order after it's built and tell you exactly when it has been built, sitting at the port in Germany waiting to be shipped, when it left port, and arrival date at a U.S. port.

Once built, the VIN number will be available and you can do some of the paperwork and financing a week ahead of the delivery date.

I ordered my 06 SLK 280 from Mercedes-Benz Alexandria, VA. I placed my order on Sept 7, 2005, it was built the last week of Sept and I drove it home on Oct 20, 2005.
