Well im hving this issue i took a trip to LA and while i was driving i had to keep turnibg on the heater because it kept getting cold in the car. While driving i noticed air was coming from the defrost vent and both side vents. When i turn the cold air on the defrost flaps close and the center vents open and when i turn the heat up the defrost opens again i know that is working correct its just when i have it turned off on the O air leaks. i drove my friend 1992 300e and his does not leak what should i check. Is it the vacum distributer which is behind the glove book on the side which makes the pods open and close?

More than likely the defroster pod is bad and it's a pita to get to, just accept it until you are ready to replace all your pods (and the evaporator if it hasn't already been replaced).

The pod opens and closes just fine it right behind the glovebox for the defroster pod when i have the cold air on the pod moves and when its off the pod opens the vents

The W124 dash is one of the easiest to pull next to the W201.

Pull the dash and replace all the vac elements. and check the rubber fittings
at the vac distrbution block while your in there.

It's not as bad as it looks.

Back when these were in warranty I did an evaporator start to finish
in 3.5 hrs.

I had just done 2 in a row before so all my tools were ready to go
and through repetition I set my best time.

Book time for that job is 16 hours by the way.;)

AS long as I'm on the subject, here's my latest ASE certificate.

Shameless, I know..............

GHM, your one of the few members on this forum that have helped me recently
with my "problem"

The 2 others know who they are (Jim & Kevin)

Just like to thank you in public.

I enjoy this forum very much, so helping out when I can is just
a little payback.

Oh, not me, I moved from Long Island in 1987 to Florida because I
really hate the winters. I have motorcycle's as well. Here's my sport bike.

A 2006 R1 Yamaha LE, #52/500 homolagation bike for AMA superstock class racing
which it won in 2006

I also have a Harley Superglide Custom.
