I have the auto climate control and was driving in some rainy humid weather the other day. I pressed the button for the front defroster which immediately switched off the auto mode, increased the fan speed, and directed the air to the windshield and side vents.

That all was fine, but it was a hot humid day and the air that was coming out now was warm heated air, not the cool A/C that had been coming out prior to switching to defrost. Needless to say, it was too warm to keep the defroster on. The last thing I needed was heat on a hot and humid day. Anyway, I would think cool dry air would work better at defrosting.

Anyone else experience this? Is it normal?

My experience is that warm air is always blown unto the windshield when in defrosting mode (it wants to "defrost", therefore it will use warm or heated air). Even in other makes, e.g., BMW and Honda, it does the same thing. You may want to keep the airconditioner on and just use the directional controls to blow the cooler dry air unto the windshield.
