Several months ago (more like 8) I picked up some 0W40 Mobil 1 when it was on special. Today when I checked the DOM stamp on the bottles, they turn out to be 2 and half years old
. Guess it's not that flesh (The expiration on 0W40 is only 5 years in a sealed bottle).

First, you find something like this printed on the bottle: AB23C6
AB-Site of manufacturing (either one or two letters)
23-Date of the month (one or two numbers). "23" is 23rd of the month.
C-Month (in order. January is A, December is M, skipping letter I). "C" is March.
6-Year 2006 (single number only)
