The VIN does not include the production date itself.
108058 = W108.058 or a 280SEL 3.5
2 = Right hand drive
0 = Manual Transmission
002439 = Serial number, unit number 2.439
The "108058" part is very strange, since there where only 951 units of the 280SEL 3.5 made and you number is 002439! Are you sure it's not a "10806820002439" wich would be a 280SEL 4.5? The total production of the 280SEL 4.5 was 8.173 units and it was in production from 05/71 to 11/72, so the the 2439 would indicate you car to be a late 1971 model (if it is a 280SEL 4.5).
: I urgently need someone to decode my VIN, I have just shipped a car from overseas. Thanks Sveinn

For your information,
I have finally turn to Mercedes head office in Australia and they contact the German factory and verify that the car was built in 1st of June, 1971.
The car was first register in Hong Kong 27th July, 1971, and was sold 2 years later to one of my relative. The car haven't been restore ever since. So it is definitely a 280SEL 3.5 original. Probably the 2439 unit is including the 280SE 3.5.
Do you agree?

Thanks for your reply.

cK
