I am thinking about mounting new Continental DWS 225/45ZR17 front and rear on stock AMG 17" rims. With same tires all around I can rotate them.

I could just as easily go for 245/40 front and rear but don't want to make the steering heavier -- tho I doubt it would make much difference.

I just did wheel bearings, steering linkage, ball joints and shocks. The car drives great, but the half worn Hankook Ventus V12 are getting way too LOUD.

I don't race and don't care about the look. Are there any downsides that I may have overlooked?

Thanks in advance for your responses, and a big thanks to all of the knowledgeable contributors to this forum.

You can't rotate them if you keep the stock wheels. The rear wheels are wider and a different offset.

Good luck.

also if you get directional tires you will only be able to do back to front not left to right. You can get some stock front rims and replcae the backs.
