Hi folks,

I came across this ad https://m.facebook.com/W113Datacards and the proprietor, Darren, can provide copies of the data cards for a fraction of the price that MB are looking for. Note, he only provides soft copies rather than physical so you have to print them yourself.

At any rate, I availed of his service and he came back with a set of 4 data cards (s/shots attached) plus 1 for the service book. The headscratcher - any idea where those 4 were kept when the car left the factory? Were they given to the first owner with the sales paperwork etc.? Would they be stapled together or glued into the owner's manual etc.? Suffice it to say Eleanor didn't come with either of those 4 printouts.

Hello,
In my car , 1986 560sl, I found 2 data cards. One under the jack rubber receptacle, (where I think most of us know to look for one) but I also found one glued to the underside of shaft gate wood. I’ve never come across anyone mention that location.
Good luck hunting!

Yes sir, and there's a third one on the driver's seat's rail - I found all those build sheets.

My question was more centered around the particular data cards posted above - were any of those included in your car's documentation? The feedback I got in the meantime from Darren is that it's not clear if all the cards were issued to the Owner - he knows of most cars only having card 1 (customer card) and the service book card. Card 2 is the workshop card and the other 2 - he has no clue.

So that's my investigation to learn some more about those artefacts :)

What was the reason that MB decided to hide these in secret places? Theft I suppose, I have 4 vin numbers under the hood 3 stickers and the stamped one on the front cross member and one on the A pillar. I just found the one data card under the jack, yippee! I have one in the maintenance booklet, Didn't check the set rail or under the walnut yet.

@Retired and Loving it no idea why, maybe they thought it was a clever Easter Egg for future generations? 😅

Thanks @reno4u2 - I assume that's the only data card wirh the car right? You don't have the other sheets per my first post?

You should also have VIN stickers on both rear quarter panels both doors and deck lid. US/NA models only. Federally mandated beginning with the 1987 model year. Then there is the plate w/VIN riveted to the driver door jamb.
