Well I'm removing the dashboard on my 1984 500 SEC to replace all the acuators and replace any bulbs that are not functioning. It looks to be a royal PIA, but it must be done. I have the manual which is very helpful. I will post pic of my progress
Here ya go! I cant answer your question but its probably one of the pink "actators"BenTwombly - 4/20/2006 1:54 PM
Can you snap a photo of inside the flapper door near the driver side foot vent? Can you take a look inside and tell me what holds that damn door closed when heat is blowing? Thanks!
The upper actuator which recieves the most heat and I would guess would be the first to go would be a real PIA.mramay - 4/20/2006 8:30 AM
I don't believe that you have to remove the dashboard for that. the front and sides of the console will have to be opened up, but I'm about to do the same thing and I'm not planning on removing the dash. I could be wrong, but gonna try rebuilding all the actuators and repairing the dash (cracked) with it in the car.
Instrument cluster comes out pretty easy. you meed a special tool with a hook on the end of itdeathrattle - 4/20/2006 11:42 AM
How much work is it just to replace bulbs in the rev counter side, and to get to the clock for inpection and repair?
This is, I believe, the air pump which exposes climate air to the temp sensor for the automatic climate control feedback loop.Minkoff - 4/20/2006 5:13 PM
