Dash spectacle compartment lock tumbler won't come out?

So I'm trying to repair this silly thing, according to the instructions on classicroadster.de, supposely, you turn the key to 45 degrees and then insert a pin to un-catch the tumbler? I've done that and my tumbler won't budge.

Now, I'm just using a straightend paperclip, which may not be strong enough. What kind of a movement is it? Do you push in? move it side to side? Do I need a stronger wire pin?
