The car a is a 95 E250 Diesel S124, 500k km. I think shoes are worn and should be replaced because the pedal almost goes to the floor but i also think the pedal mechanism doesn't work as it should. The pedal is dangling and not fully returning when releasing the parking brake. To me it feels like a spring or something is missing somewhere. I can only make the parking brake light go away by very slightly lifting the pedal with my left foot. Thanks :)

If it's the brake pedal spring issue....

I have a monthly reminder in my mobile (among other car related reminders) to use/apply these brakes regularly (for safety and to keep the components moving)

Thanks a lot! Since the car is a manual, it has to be used every time the car is parked. On my automatic i always it too. A matter of habits i guess.
