My '88 260E W124 is fitted with 15x7 wheels all round. However the tyres on the front and back are very different sizes, there are 195/65/15 on the front and 225/60/15 on the back. These where all fitted before I had the car. Am I right in thinking that the rear tyres are too wide and the front ones are too narrow. At low speeds the front of the car sometimes goes wide around corners.
What are the correct tyre sizes for my wheels and car. Also can anyone recommend a good, reasonably priced tyre for when I replace them.

Thanks

The owners manual has listed both 195/65xHR15, you could go to 205/65x15 as fitted to the sportline editions without any problems and any higher speed rating will be fine (ZR, VR etc).
If the front pair have good tread it may be worth trying to match these up but if their half worn out it's usually cheaper to replace all four tyres as tyre depots often have offers on. I bought four Uniroyal 195/65xVR15s for my C180 about 4 months back for £44 each inclusive from National Tyres. The offers probably finished now but if you look through your local free paper or a copy of Add-mag/loot you might find something.
I've heard a lot of good reports about Kumho tyres although have never tried them so can't comment. www.eurocarparts.com sells them for around £32, don't know whether that includes valves and balancing?

Recommendation for good 205/60/15 tyres

I've read people saying good things about Michelin 205/60/15 Pilot XGT V4's on the 95 E320 but these don't seem to be available anymore. Does anyone know which of the new line of Michelin tires the Pilot XGT V4's map most closely to?

Thanks

Pilot Sport A/S
Nobody seems to carry the Pilot Sport A/S in England. Are the Pilot Primacy's horrible? I've read some bad reviews on tirerack.com. Could anyone who has used the Primacy's comment?

Thanks
